1/ at this point, you've probably seen many .eth on many people's handles. Mainly called Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is similar to a generic domain name .com except that it's just for crypto and tradeable like NFTs.
2/ Yeah, you can trade your ENS on opensea and the four/five digit names are considered to be extremely unique and rare because of its value to its native collection.
3/ For instance, if an Azuki collection is capped at 9999 items and you own Azuki 8149 then you wouldn't want to miss out on 8149.eth because of its importance attached to your NFT and the collectors increases its value.
4/ How do you create an ENS then?
You choose a platform of your preference like trustwallet, metamask, rainbow etc.
Make sure you also have a reasonable amount of Ethereum in your wallet for gas fees and your domain's annual fee.

5/ In your browser, go to manager.ens.domains and you'd be directed to the registration page.
6/ Search for your desired domain name with the .eth and if the name is already taken, you buy it back or get another one.
7/ Select the time duration that suits your purpose with the least being a year and you can choose to extend it in future.
Click the box "request to register". A box asking for your confirmation will appear then confirm.

8/ Make sure that the transaction process has been confirmed before leaving your browser.
After a few seconds, an orange text that says โClick register to move to the 3rd step" will appear.

9/ Another box asking to confirm would pop up, Click the โConfirmโ button.
