The smartest lesson I have learnt in my 20s
Only one lesson, not 10 or 20
When I was in my 20s, I loved extreme ideas
Extreme and polarising ideas attract people easily
Because they are exciting to hear and simple to follow
They also deliver results too
Then, what's the problem with these ideas?
1. They don't work for everyone
2. You have limited options
3. You make them your identity
4. You will try to fit that one idea as a solution to your every problem
5. These ideas make you rigid and obsolete
What ideas am I talking about?
Few examples
Barbells and bodyweight exercises are superior to dumbbells and machines
Low carb/keto/carnivore diets are superior to all other diets
Training in the rep 5-6 rep range is superior to high reps
All these ideas limit your training options
There is no way you can reach your goals with this limiting mindset
Nature doesn't care which idea you like
You may have to use the ideas and ways that you don't find much appealing to you to reach your goal
The most successful people I've seen in my life use all the tools that are available for them to reach their goals
They are not married to one idea
They don't make that one idea their identity
I call them the doers
The Lesson here is that
There’s more than one way to skin a cat
Use all the tools available to you to reach your goals
Dumbbells give you the option to lift the weights in the most biomechanical way possible
Barbells help you lift heavy weights and are easy to balance
Machines help you isolate the muscles and train them efficiently
Low carb diets help you lose fat fast but you sacrifice some of your performance
Taking carbs fuels your workouts, keeps you sane and helps in maintaining your hormonal health
Conclusion is that don't get married to one idea and limit yourself.
Be smart and use all the tools to your advantage
