Morya Gosavi, or Moraya Gosavi, was a notable Hindu Ganapatya saint. He is regarded as the Ganapatya sect's spiritual founder and has been dubbed Ganesha's "most famous follower."
Morya Gosavi lived between the 13th and 17th centuries, according to legend. His life is remembered in numerous legends.
Morya became attached to Ganesha after visiting the Morgaon Ganesha shrine.
Because Morya's offerings to the deity at the popular Ganesha shrine were hampered, Ganesha assured Morya that he would come to Chinchwad for Morya to worship, so Morya went from Morgaon to Chinchwad and erected a Ganesha temple.
Morya took sanjeevan samadhi as a result of burying himself alive in his tomb.
Morya had a son named Chintamani, who was worshipped as a live manifestation of Ganesha and referred to as Dev (God). Six other Devs succeeded Chintamani. Many Ganesha devotees still visit Morya Gosavi's tomb and the Ganesha temple at Chinchwad.
