8 Magical Ways to Strengthen your Brain to Focus on Solutions
~THREAD~
“The problem is your mind.”
“Your thoughts determine what you do and how you react to life’s problems.”
“Train your mind to see the good in every situation.”
“Train your mind, calm your mind, feed your mind to handle any situation.”
So how do you train your mind?
1/ Setting New Challenges
- Challenges involve one action that help you achieve what you want.
- If you take up a vocation that matches your interests, it sends positive signals to your brain.
- It can be crosswords, sculpture, yoga…
- One only needs to ensure that the activity shouldn’t be easy to complete or the brain wouldn’t be stimulated enough.
2/ Flip Negatives Into Positives
- You’ll need to do this deliberately at first,
consciously challenging yourself to see what’s good about a tough experience.
- Try to turn setbacks into opportunities.
- If you don’t get called for a job interview or a second date,
ask yourself what you can use the extra time to accomplish.
- In time, your brain will start doing this immediately, without being prompted.
- Your positive neural wiring will attract more and more positivity into your life.
3/ Give Positivity To Feel Positivity
- If you get into a habit of doing something compassionate for another person,
it’ll soon become automatic and your negative periods will last for increasingly shorter times.
- Acts of kindness don’t just make others happy; they make you feel good as well.
4/ Create Goals That Satisfy Your Highest Priorities
- Whenever you’re resisting doing something,
it’s likely that it’s because it’s not topping your priority charts.
- The key is to examine and reframe what you need to do,
in a way that does satisfy your highest values and priorities.
5/ Practice Meditation and Mindfulness
- Meditation can reduce rumination, anxiety.
- Meditating allows you to practice regaining focus.
- As you practice, you learn to notice when your mind is wandering off track.
- You then practice bringing it back to what you should be directing your attention to.
6/ Work from Paper
- Working from paper is one natural way to increase focus and retention.
- There’s something magical about picking up a pen and writing things down.
- Writing stimulates different parts of our brains improving focus on solutions.
7/ Look After Your Body
- What you eat and drink can have a huge influence on your emotional state,
as can your approach to sleep and exercise.
- If you want to be a better “solution thinker”,
take an honest critical look at how you treat your body and identify potential areas for improvement.
- As you treat the physical parts of you with more care,
the mental and emotional parts of you will respond in kind.
8/ Subconscious Retraining
- Exercises like “tapping” & “neuro-linguistic programming”, “hypnotherapy”
can help you access these parts of yourself,
build a more supportive, affirming belief system;
(creating and reinforcing new synapses, especially in your prefrontal cortex).
- Creating and maintaining a truly positive perspective ,
often starts with facing and letting go of long-term wounds.
