1. EDWARD MAINA SHIMOLI AKA 'The Jackal'

For more than a decade, he succeeded in staying away from the police . It is also worth noting that he escaped jail 4 times by bribing and tricking wardens. He confessed to 14 murders, 88 rapes plus a string of bank robberies and drug deals in a decade-long crime spree.
In 1996, with the help of his accomplices, he made a daring move by staging an escape from Kamiti Maximum Security Prison shortly before he was to be hanged.
He is famed for having caused a scene at Uhuru Park, within the heart of Nairobi during a gunfight between him and a dozen policemen. He shot and wounded 5 of them. He is also known for having incorporated also women in his criminal gang.
Maina Shimoli was finally shot dead in 2007 along Kangundo road.

The school was then known as Prince of Wales and had a lot of white people who he says were were racist. Kiriamiti was identified as one of the ringleaders when chaos ensued in retaliation.
He had been suspended from school and told to go and bring his parents with him. But given that his parents were very strict, going home was out of question hence he ran into the streets of Nairobi and started his life in crime.
He was arrested in 1971 and jailed for 20 years in prison. While serving his sentence, he started writing his famous novel My Life in Crime. He was released 13 years later for portraying good conduct.
However, he was jailed again in 1986 after being accused of being part of those planning to dethrone the then president Moi.

Wanugu started criminal activities in the late 80s and was part of a gang that terrorized Kenyans until the 90s.He was a famous bank robber, managing to outrun the elite flying squad police unit plenty of times.

In the 1970s, Wakinyonga was the most wanted man in Kenya with a bounty of KES 100, 000 (USD 1,160) on his head, a very huge amount of money during those days. He was killed in 1978 after a dramatic gunfight with the police in a club in Kangemi, Nairobi.

His house had been surrounded by 100 policemen when he was finally killed. They demanded that he come out of his house where he was with his wife and his bodyguard, Elias. His wife pursued him to get out. Matheri finally came out with the bodyguard before being shot several times
