Do you know?? After converting to Christianity, the converted Christians betrayed their own community/caste/guild by sharing the secret related to cotton to christian missionaries which their Hindu ancestors guarded for nearly 3000 year's??? /1
Before diving in to this, let me remind you that, India is the home of world cotton industry until 19th century!!. Making of Cotton and using it as clothes was even mentioned in our scriptures. /2
Europeans looking at the talent of Hindu cotton weavers stated that, it only through Guru Shishya parampara and Centuries of practice, Indians became unmatched expert's in textile industry /3
Pliny a Roman histoarain stated that, exports from india are so much he stated " no year In which India did not drain the Roman empire of a hundred million Sesterces"!!!. (Which is equivalent to 1 billion dollars in U.S currency). /4
Remember this is the same Rome before Christianity became official religion which so called indian Christians are proud of and always tried to insult India and Hindus saying
"We Christians helped your poor country and you poor Hindus". /4
Arab travellers in 9th century CE said that Indians cotton is so fine that it can pass through a ring ( fortunately, Indians weavers are still able to do that) /5
Please do read this on how Europeans praised and surprised by the talent of Hindu weavers./6
With this amount of greatness, its natural for the Christians to feel jealous. Indian textiles started to dominate so much that, Christians in England started to abuse Hindus and hindu gods saying that these heathens and their devil's(Hindu god's) are destroying our local cloths.
This abuse and rumour about Hindu and hindu gods was said by some random person but by "Daniel Defoe", who wrote the world famous novel
"Robinson Crusoe" which has most number of translations 2nd to Bible!!!/8
At one point we have England that is trying to destroy ancient Indian market, on other side we have French which tried to steal the knowledge, for that they used Father Gaston-Laurent Coeurdoux most important French Missionary who later inspired many people like Max Muller!!/9
He converted some local Weavers of South India in to Christianity and from them he got to know the secret of colouring the Cotton fabric, a secret which a Hindu weaver will never tell to an outsider, he promised the converts that he will not share this secret/10
But he quickly wrote a letter to the church in France about this secret and asked them to train the local Weavers using the secret./End.
