Straight white men function as a scapegoat for progressive ideology, they are blamed for the totality of society's woes (structural racism, sexism, imperialism, etc.) The problem w/scapegoating, however, is that this stance necessarily ascribes a god-like potency to the victim.
The power to oppress, conquer or destroy is also the power to save, heal or create. It's the classic issue of the pharmakon, where the difference between medicine & poison is one not of essence, but degree.
