Today is my 44th birthday!
That means it's been 4 years since I wrote my most popular article ever (linked below).
And while I agree with (almost) everything I wrote back then...
Here are 4 LESSONS I only learned AFTER 40. ๐งต

Here are 4 LESSONS I only learned AFTER 40. ๐งต

1/ Life is about serving others.
For most of our 20s and 30s, we do a nice job paying lip service to this idea, but we're really focused on ourselves.
A switch flips around 40 (at least for me), where you truly & deeply understand that serving others is the path to happiness.

2/ Life is short.
We "know" this, but don't "feel" it until about 40.
The halfway point in life forces some uncomfortable questions:
- Am I in the right job?
- Am I with the right people?
- Am I being true to myself?
If the answer is 'no', we need courage to shift course.

3/ Quality beats quantity every time.
- A few close friends vs. 1000 acquaintances
- A deep conversation vs. a hundred shallow interactions
- A single moment of peace or gratitude when washing the dishes vs. 100 likes on your tweet

4/ The way to live is intentionally.
We can choose to be busy and not think about why we're here.
Or we can identify our purpose and build a life and a daily schedule around that.
I venture to say the latter will lead us to a place of no regrets when it's all said and done.

At 44, I'm still learning...
- From the friends I've made on (and off) this platform
- From the incredible guests I've interviewed on my podcast
- & from the mistakes I make every day
I'm grateful for another year to keep learning & growing.
Life is good.
