1. Paracetamol will work faster on an empty stomach.
2. Eating oily food and taking malaria medication like the Artemether/lumefantrine will make it work better.
3. If you’re on anti-hypertensive meds, don’t take turmeric or it supplement👇🏿
This is because turmeric or it supplements can also lower the blood pressure when you take it and still take a drug that lowers your bp, your bp may become abnormally lowered which maybe harmful to you.
4. Don’t take NSAIDs (e.g ibuprofen, felvin, diclofenac) on an empty stomach. They will irritate your stomach and predispose you to ulcer, if you already have ulcer, taking NSAIDs on an empty stomach can predispose your to gastrointestinal bleeding, this can be life threatening.
5. Dexamethasone can increase the blood sugar level and should not be taken by someone who is diabetic (when taken, the blood sugar should seriously be monitored). Talk to your healthcare provider about that.
6. Augmentin can interact with birth control pills as a result making it less effective. If you’re using oral birth control pills and you make use of augmentin, use an additional method like condom if not you stand a high chance of getting pregnant.
7. Don’t take take Dexamethasone for weight gain. Using it for such will only harm you. Only use it when prescribed. Dexamethasone works by reducing your immune system, it is to be used only when prescribed because the benefits outweighs the risks. Using it on your own is bad.
Also the weight you gain by using dexamethasone is superficial, it will disappear once you stop taking the med (more like “water weight”), don’t put yourself in danger bcos you want to gain weight so badly.
8. If you are depressed don’t take ciprofloxacin. It can worsen your depression and you may have suicidal thoughts in worse case scenario.
9. Tetracycline can HARM the FETUS. If you get pregnant while taking tetracycline, call your doctor immediately.
10. If you have epilepsy, don’t take ciprofloxacin as it can precipitate seizure attack in people with epilepsy.
11. Don’t take more than 2tablets of paracetamol (pcm) once. It’s also important u know that the highest daily dose of pcm you can take is 3000mg/day and that’s 6tabs (i.e 500mg). Except u are being supervised by a healthcare provider, above that u’re doing damage to your liver.
Even with this 6tabs of pcm a day which translates to 2tabs morning, afternoon, and night (as maximum dose of paracetamol you can take in a day) there is an exception.
If you have fatty liver or a disease of the kidney like hepatitis, don’t take more than 4tabs of pcm a day.
This is because your liver is already burdened especially in hepatitis case, so overloading it with pcm can cause more harm and depending on the damage to your liver, paracetamol dose can still be further tapered and another painkiller used.
12. Taking Diclofenac for ulcer pain is suicidal. Diclofenac is a painkiller yes, but it can cause ulcer so it’s wrong to take it for ulcer pain. Very very wrong.
13. Don’t take two NSAIDs:
Don’t take ibuprofen & diclofenac. Don’t take felvin & ibuprofen together. Doing that may damage ur kidneys & cause ulcer. No matter the pain, don’t try this, you’re going to do more damage to yourself. See ur healthcare provider something can be done 4u
14. It’s particularly wrong to use alcohol or soda to take your drugs. Forget about all this thing you see in the movies, don’t try that at home. Don’t use alcohol to take your drugs it’s a very bad practice.
