Dickson, you're my buddy, & I've tried so hard to ignore a lot of things you've been writing about Peter Obi; but posterity will not be kind to me if I don't weigh in at this point, cos at this point, I can't tell if this is you being on an intentional campaign to make Peter Obi
appear like a hypocrite, or you truly believe the things you say.
First of all, let me make it clear to you that the moment Peter Obi engages in such politics, the same lot of you would trumpet the slogan that he isn't different after all.
I've stated time & again, that when
it comes to certain political conversations, please stay away from things that you do not understand.
Peter Obi is a man who was comfortably a billionaire at 40, & was practically pushed into politics because Anambra state needed a man to pull us out of the quagmire a PDP
governor had dragged us into.
Peter Obi initially attempted to contest the governorship position under PDP in 2003, but when he saw no way through, what did he do? He left. At the time, APGA was a brand new party, who enticed Obi to run under their platform. He did not have to
induce a single delegate.
He clearly won the election because the people wanted him, but the massive rigging that was done on behalf of PDP by Chris Uba, stole his mandate from him. What did he do? He followed due process & went to court. He spent 3 whole years fighting to
reclaim his mandate, & was successful in the end.
He spent nearly his entire first tenure as governor, fighting this same system that you want him to subject himself to. He was thrown out of office twice during his 2 terms as governor, because he refused to allow blatant
squandering of citizens wealth in the name of politicking & self aggrandisement.
Now, let's move to the issue of him joining PDP in the first place.
After his time as governor, his goal was to make APGA a National party.
He met very strong pushback from people of the SE,
who expressly insisted that we want APGA to remain regional & consolidate the SE, to make it easy for us to hold our elected officials accountable.
While this was ongoing, the PDP as a party were seriously wooing Obi to join the party (this is independently verifiable).
Now, beyond being a governor, APGA could no longer help him as the vehicle of national change that he needed.
He eventually joined the PDP, & the rest is basically known by everyone.
Now, it'll be dishonest to keep pointing at the money being shared to delegates as the reason
Obi decided to leave the PDP. That is a lie.
Much as he has always stated his disagreement with delegate inducement, if you had bothered to pay any attention at all, you'd realise that the reason he left abruptly was because Nyesom Wike had influenced the picking of
party delegates in Anambra, using Chris Uba (remember this name) who is currently a political pariah in Anambra state, to hijack the delegate electoral process, with tacit support from the PDP National chairman, through his inaction.
Now, this wss the same Chris Uba, who
basically set Anambra on fire during Chris Ngige's time as governor, because Ngige refused to adhere to the dubious agreements they made him sign before rigging him into office; agreements contained in the documents as represented below.
Chris Uba set govt properties on fire,
terrorised the entire state with thugs & gunmen, orchestrated the kidnap of Ngige in order to force him to sign a resignation paper.
Stella Oduah, who is also one of those that Wike used to hijack the party structure in Anambra, has, as of yesterday, been proven to have been
Vying for, & occupying public offices, with a forged NYSC affidavit (NYSC has recently confirmed that she did not participate in the programme).
Dickson, these are the charlatans, to whose whims & caprices, you expect Peter Obi to subject himself to, in order to make change?
Dickson, tell me exactly, how you expect Peter Obi to effect genuine change & hold his cabinet members accountable for non-performance, if he has to first sully himself in order to get into office?
You want him to promise positions to certain people in order to achieve his aim?
Dickson, what are you on about exactly? Why this persistent campaign to wash the obviously nasty image of the PDP, over 48hrs after the man who is the subject of this entire discuss, has left the party?
You expect him to stay & continue to politick, in the face of obvious
unfairness?
He left Adamawa our of his consultations, in deference to Atiku, but you think he's just being a cry baby about his state structure being hijacked from him?
We scream here for genuine change all the time, & this one time that we have someone who can effect this
change, you demand that he subjects himself to an obviously unfair process, thereby sullying himself, & denying himself the moral grounds to demand accountability when trying to deliver the same change that you want?
What are we on about exactly?
Peter Obi has left PDP, so
what exactly is the need for this continued campaign of what I can term as blatant calumny at this point?
Dickson, you live in the UK, a country with obviously fair & transparent electoral processes, a country which affords you decent quality of life, while trumpeting support
for the perpetuation of a system that has obviously held us all down, back here in your home country.
What exactly do you hope to achieve with all of this?
This same Wike that you want Obi to get in the mud with, currently owes gratuity & pensions in his state, has annointed
his accountant general as his successor, & delivered the PDP guber ticket to him, all while the same accountant general is being fingered in an over 400 billion Naira fraud in Rivers state.
Omo, I don't really get this obsession with Peter Obi.
You want Peter Obi to get
himself involved with someone like Chris Uba, just so he can get the power he needs to effect the change that you & I cry out for everyday?
For context, this is what Chris Uba had to say about Peter Obi in the past; & you expect water to mix with oil? God forbid
