Sitting elected public officers (and political appointees who resigned) who contested primaries and lost are waking up to the harsh reality of having no feeding trough from 29th May 2023. Many have been "in the system" for upwards of 8 years, quite a few since 1999.
/ The adjustment/withdrawal symptoms will be brutal. Many had no experience or capacity before appointment to earn the independent living that could fund the high life they got used to in Abuja and the State capitals. Very few built up experience and private sector contacts good
/ enough to merit consulting tasks or senior executive or board appointments in the private sector post-exit. Life outside will be bleak. I believe it is the reason why many OATTs in and outside Abuja bought expensive nomination forms and then sat on them when they realised
/ they could not eat their cake and have it also. New entrants into office will begin to realise that the quality of life outside office is directly proportional to the quality of work you delivered while in office, which means keep BOTH ears focused on what your
/5 sector stakeholders are saying and find ways to GIVE to them...rather than TAKE from them. I'm really beginning to like this Electoral Act, 2022 that @inecnigeria pushed for. It's not perfect but it is a huge improvement on what we had. Let there be even more sense received.
