There is something fishy about the monkey pox sequences.
50 mutations is too many for a 2018 DNA virus.
There is also a deletion which hints at serial passaging.

Serial passaging can result in deletions in pox viruses.
Depending on the host cell line, you get different APOBEC activity.
As for concern over WEF like agendas.
It’s still really early to make definitive statements about leaks Vs zoonosis.

Last week I was holding out for confirmatory sequence data from Illumina. This is important as ONT nanopore can have insertion/deletion error and also higher error rate around methylated bp. Illumina sequence is now in confirming the sequence.

Important to highlight that the reads are not yet public but they should be this week.
Molnupiravir does create C->T mutations but as you can see from the two OH groups on the base, this is an RNA base and shouldn’t get incorporated into a DNA virus at high frequency.
It also doesn’t have dinucleotide and tetranucleotide sequence preferences like APOBEC.
It’s mutation rate in SARs is reckless in my opinion. You don’t add mutagens mid pandemic after you have compromised people’s immune systems with the jab.

I’m struggling to see why someone who do this when there are more directed ways they can edit viruses in 2018. Perhaps as a smoke screen to obscure origins but that’s getting into some Tin hat space.
It may be a side effect of cell culture.

APOBECs require zinc. Many populations are consuming more zinc.
APOBECs are also up-regulated with LINE1 expression. Vax and C19 could be inducing more LINE1 expression.
APOBEC has left noticeable footprints on human/C19 evolution.

I have questions regarding what pseudouridine does to APOBEC biology. Injecting large portions of the population with lots of m1pU could alter the expression of these enzymes.

While there are many ā€˜natural’ or c19/vax induced hypothesis one could imagine hyper-expressing APOBEC activity, I would expect to see some intermediate mutations.
0 to 50 mutations isn’t natural unless we failed to sequence the intermediates.
