10 principles that changed my life and finance.
- A thread
1. A conscious decision to find and maximise my gift.
We all have unique gifts. I decided to find and develop a gift that's unique to me that can earn a premium in the market.
2. A conscious decision to let go of unprofitable ventures regardless of sunk costs.
We hold on to some dead ventures because we have invested so much, not because they have a good chance of being profitable.
A bad business is a bad business regardless of your past investments.
3. A conscious decision to live below my means.
Dave Ramsey taught me to never buy anything to impress people.
May people buy things they can't afford to impress people they don't even like.
4. A conscious decision to save something every month.
The most important reason to save is because it gives you the ability to take advantage of opportunities whenever they show up.
You can just use your savings for the new venture.
5. A conscious effort to create multiple income streams.
Most jobs won't pay you enough to retire comfortably. You need to either get stock option or build a side hustle.
6. A conscious effort to find the best wall to place my ladder on (strategy) and to climb that ladder with all my might (hard work).
Strategy + hard work = success.
Strategy/smart work won't do it alone.
Hard work without strategy is just wasted effort.
7. A conscious decision to study money/capital markets.
8. A conscious effort to do what I love (for fun, passion, and recreation) while concurrently doing what I may not love as much (to maximise my income potential).
9. A conscious decision to learn to work with people.
You need other people to work with you if you intend to scale anything.
10. A conscious decision to give back to my community.
We need friends, family, and a healthy community to have a meaningful life
The key driver of these efforts and decisions is the word "conscious".
I really don't believe that you can significantly change your life unless you make some deliberate decisions backed by "conscious" effort.
