The Cossack was a regular hero of Russian propaganda from the war (and Uncle Sam/John Bull regular villains). This one - captioned 'We will sit by the sea, we will wait for the weather' - shows a Cossack at Port Arthur taunting Japan, depicted as a British lackey.
Another, captioned 'Cossack's Breakfast', shows a Cossack snacking on a Japanese soldier and was printed on both posters and postcards.
