Just moved from LA to Miami.
And the whole process makes me realize how much of America is about making money off frustrating and deceiving customers.
Here's just a few things that happened:
And the whole process makes me realize how much of America is about making money off frustrating and deceiving customers.
Here's just a few things that happened:
I called Xfinity to setup internet.
They asked if I wanted a "free" streaming box.
"And when we say free, we mean free" the guy on the phone said.
But when I picked it up at the store and read the fine print, it wasn't free.
It's a "rental."
They charge me in 24 months.

Then I went to cancel my Spectrum Internet back in LA.
Can't cancel online (!!!).
Have to call.
Wait time is 45 minutes.
Imagine a single mom working 3 jobs having to deal with this. Then, when she isn't able to cancel in time, overdrafts her bank account.
Unbelievable.

Then I went to cancel my natural gas connected to my apartment in LA.
Can't cancel online (!!!).
Have to call.
Wait time is another 45 minutes.
This is 100% done to screw over customers who give up waiting, forget to cancel, and then get billed another month.

These examples are EVERYWHERE.
And are intentional friction points to keep people frustrated & paying.
People can hate on Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos all they want, but at least they make money helping people.
Not frustrating & deceiving them into keeping their wallets open.
