#Jaguar Land Rover Ltd.'s Journey with #TataMotors ⚙️
💨Fourteen years ago today, in 2008, Tata Motors acquired Jaguar Cars and Land Rover. By 2013, they were merged into Jaguar Land Rover Limited, which is a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors.
💨Jaguar changed hands several times before being purchased by Tata Motors from #Ford in 2008. In fact, it is also widely stated that Bill Ford personally thanked #RatanTata for buying JLR!
Here are some interesting facts about the deal and its operations:
💨Tata may have purchased JLR in 2008, but the acquisition strategy and internal due diligence began with the first genuine interaction between Tata and Ford in early 2007.
💨Tata Motors acquired Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford in 2008 for $2.3 billion.
💨They also invested more than £3 billion in JLR, with an emphasis on new product innovation at JLR plants.
💨JLR is establishing manufacturing assembly plants in India and China.
💨Over the last five years, operating profit has increased at a CAGR of 24%.
💨Net profit is increasing at 11% CAGR over the years.
💨The Jaguar I-PACE, the world's first completely electric premium SUV, was introduced by Tata JLR in 2018. In 2019, the Jaguar I-PACE was named "World Car of the Year," "World Design of the Year" & "Green Car of the Year."
💨As per annual reports of FY20-21, JLR accounts for 82% of the total revenue of Tata Motors.
💨Tata Motors further stated that by 2039, it wants JLR to be a carbon-neutral company.
