"Why is queen so op"
In original chess it was a weak piece called counselor.
It was only when it got to medieval Europe that they turned it into queen and gradually made it the most powerful piece.
Contrary to popular stereotypes medieval Europe was actually very pro-feminine.
There's a book about this by Marilyn Yalom, Birth of the Chess Queen, that goes into detail about this.
It affirms what I pointed out in the past that the middle ages were actually one of the civilizations that praised powerful women the most.
The medievals loved their powerful women whether it was Virgin Mary or one of the contemporary powerful queens. Chess was also related to courtly love tradition and lovers playing chess was often depicted.
So by 1500 queen became the most powerful piece, also called "amazon".
*Obviously from the standards of modern age European middle ages were still in many ways sexist/misogynist, but there was a strong pro-women element or however you want to call it, stronger than compared to what came before and after.
