Rather than make a competing Hindi ecosystem in Noida promote regional cinema. Hindi movies depend on 4 states-Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi for almost 80% of their domestic revenue. Since these are non Hindi speaking states and Bombay is not in the "Hindi heartland" t.co
it gives Bollywood the tag of a "National film industry". There is a preference for piracy and a lack of movie going culture in states of the Hindi heartland like UP, Bihar and MP. Telugu/Tamil movies in a single state make 100 crores+. Compare that to the population
that consumes Hindi language content as the default and Hindi movies should regularly breach 1200 crores (but that doesn't happen). If the people of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Punjab switch away from Hindi content to that in their local languages or even dubbed cinema in their own
languages then Hindi cinema will struggle. The movie Prithviraj ran to packed houses in UP, Bihar, MP, Haryana and Rajasthan but still couldn't recover more than 40 crores primarily because it was rejected in the 4 states mentioned above. A Hindi ecosystem in Noida will make
Hindi content into a regional industry in the manner that Noida based Hindi news channels have become. Here are the top 10 channels in India (barcindia.co.in) and only two of them are Hindi, one is a mix of Hindi and Bhojpuri and one runs South Indian dubbed movies in
Hindi. The lack of movie going culture and the preference for piracy is what led to the collapse of the Bhojpuri industry after it's recent revival. This is also why South Indian movies dubbed in Hindi use Marathi artists (@SharadK7 in Bahubali, @shreyastalpade1 in Pushpa,
@supersanket in almost every movie, @SANKETGOLE12 in KGF) and have Gujarati and Marathi themed characters in their dubbed versions as they are the primary consumers of Hindi cinema. If South and Hindi movies start getting dubbed in Marathi, Gujarati and Punjabi and the people lap
them up then it will do much more to revive their local industries than subsidies and government support. I remember that the movie "MSD" by SSR was going to be dubbed in Marathi but @MNSAmeyaKhopkar objected saying that it will compete with Marathi cinema (LOL). There is no mass
culture of consuming Marathi cinema and if dubbed movies come out then atleast a market of people who consume Marathi content as their first choice will be created giving a huge fillip to the local industry. Kannada activists are campaigning for Kannada dubbed versions of Telugu
movies using a similar logic. This is a good idea and something that people in Gujarat and Punjab like @AlpeshThakor_ and @DalKhalsaUK should also look into. I'm surprised that @BanglaPokkho hasn't made this demand already.
Also alongside a Hindi ecosystem in Noida, an
ecosystem for Bhojpuri movies should also be created in Gorakhpur. Punjabi Hindu actors and producers like @ajaydevgn @akshaykumar Ranbir Kapoor @arjunk26 @udaychopra should work to develop the Punjabi industry rather than wasting their time behind a Noida based Hindi industry.
Most of the global collections of Bollywood movies come from the Punjabi diaspora as well as Pakistani Punjabis because of the domination of Punjabi culture in Hindi movies. That should transfer to the Punjabi industry rather than a Noida based Hindi industry.
