Ryan Trahan is changing YouTube.
$594,794 raised.
71 million views.
All in just 12 days...
Here are 4 reasons why this series will change YouTube... (thread)
First off, the series is centred around raising money for @FeedingAmerica, who are trying to help end hunger in America.
More than 38 million people in America face hunger.
Every $1 donated helps provide at least 10 meals to end that.
Great cause, check it out.
Habit:
A few years ago, Youtube was all about vlogs.
Daily vlogs let you live life through your favourite creator for a few minutes, every day.
Viewers formed habits around them, knowing where and when they’d watch them and always coming back.
This was extremely powerful.
Habits: (cont.)
The last few years have moved away from vlogs to more extreme, highly produced, less frequent uploads.
Ryan’s penny series is the perfect balance of both.
An extreme idea, uploaded daily.
Viewers are forming daily habits around the series and it’s working.
Quantity > Quality:
Ryan spends the entire day doing and filming...
Which the editor then has to edit...
All in a single day.
Because of this, each episode is less reliant on crazy production value but on the genuine events that are unfolding on a daily basis.
Authenticity.
Algorithm:
The algorithm exists to push content that viewers are clicking on and watching to the right people.
And millions of people are clicking and watching every day.
You don’t need millions of dollars and a massive team to get views...
Just a good idea people care about.
Relationship Building:
In 12 days, we’ve had 178 minutes of Ryan Trahan.
We’ve only had 47 minutes of MrBeast content this year.
This is allowing Ryan to build a much deeper relationship with his viewers.
Resulting in viewers wanting to click for him, not just the idea.
Youtube has become very stale.
The same ideas and style all focused on exaggerating reality without real purpose.
Ryan’s series is a refreshing balance of crazy ideas, with authenticity and purpose.
All while raising money for a fantastic cause.
This is what Youtube is about.
For every retweet on the top tweet, I'll donate $5 to Feeding America.
1 retweet = 50 meals.
Can we trigger the great reset? (and bankrupt Jay Alto)
Check out @feedingamerica and donate if you can.
