5 reasons you're not growing as a programmer and how to change that🧵👇
1. You are stuck in tutorial hell :
- One of the most common issue that new learners face is the Tutorial hell.
- They try to watch the tutorial but never attempt to apply the concepts taught in the tutorial to their own projects.
- They simply try to copy & paste the code mentioned by a guider in his tutorial video.
- Tutorials just teach you how to do something. However, the best way to learn is to practise coding and create projects.
2. You are ignoring the fundamentals :
- Good example of this is learning react without understanding the basic javascript concepts.
- Basic roots are always crucial in every phase of life and same goes with programming language. Always learn the basics of programming properly.
3. Comparing yourself to others :
- Comparing yourself to other successful developers is one of the most popular and damaging coding habits.
- "Nobody is better than you, you are better than nobody". Keep this in mind since the only person you have to compete with is yourself.
4. Afraid of failures :
- If you run away from your failure, you'll never learn to programme.
Growth only happens outside of your comfort zone.
- Coding is all about failing & being stuck with an error for hours, but never give up because you will find the solution later.
5. You are not asking for help :
- If you're a newbie, googling is an important tool for you. Don't think googling a small concept is a bad idea, I do it on a daily basis
- Ask your queries on stackoverflow & pay attention to the good answers
- Learn through pair programming.
