How to become wealthier than 90% of people by only working 4 hours a day:
Many people can’t seem to grasp the importance of productivity.
They think it’s okay to sit back and let the work flow out of them naturally.
Yet, these are the people who end up working long, dull days.
Let me show you how you can thrive on just 4 hours of work a day:
1. Deep Work vs. Shallow Work
Some definitions:
Deep work is when you set aside a block of time and focus on a singular task.
Shallow work is focusing on multiple tasks across the day and addressing them when the time seems right.
You will achieve infinitely more by doing deep work.
- You’re more driven
- You’re more focused
- You’re more prepared
The most successful people are those who don’t leave progress to chance.
2. The ‘Focus’ Muscle
Getting distracted is natural.
Our monkey brains want to explore, not toil away on a singular, boring task.
However, you can train your focus.
Deep work at a repeated time every day will see your focus increase within 2 weeks.
Some tips:
1. Use Parkinson’s Law.
Work expands to fit the time allotted for completion.
Give yourself 1 day, you’ll take 1 day.
Give yourself 4 hours, you’ll take 4 hours.
1. Get rid of distractions
Stop bringing your phone into the office.
Block distracting websites.
3. Chase meaningful goals
Shallow work ends up with you getting distracted and chasing pointless goals i.e. instant gratification.
Deep work will see you focus on working towards what you view as most important.
The feeling of reward is incomparable.
4. Routine
Get up.
Then, do something that prepares you for the day.
- Journal
- Meditate
- Exercise
- Clean the house
Whatever floats your boat.
Then, set up your office space.
Get a cup of coffee or herbal tea.
Sit down and begin.
Repeat this daily.
5. Embrace The Satisfaction
It feels good to reply to emails or having a Zoom meeting. Feels like progress.
But, you know if that’s all you do, you’ll feel unfulfilled. Whereas, having completed 4 hours of deep work, you will feel energized.
Deep work is essential for turning yourself into the business or creative success you deserve to be.
We are all filled with wonderful, unique, interesting insights.
We just don’t find the time to turn them into reality. Starting a deep work routine will change all of that.
How to become wealthier than 90% of people by only working 4 hours a day:
1. Do deep work, not shallow work
2. Set deadlines
