1. Clarity of goals
Be clear about what you want from the onset.
Your goal needs to be as clear as water.
It's hard to achieve your goals without clear and pe-defined goals.
Lots of money, time and resources are wasted in the absence of a clear goal.
Know what you want.
2. Upgrade your thinking:
I was in school but hardly thought like a student.
I started planning how to get a job in my first semester, not on graduation day.
Start early to get ahead.

3. A degree does not automatically equal a job offer
Almost everyone you know has a degree.
Look around you.
The market is flooded.
I spent my time in school attending training and learning new skills that are relevant for other jobs I want.
Do this in parallel while studying to avoid wait times after graduation.
It's the best way to maximise your time and tuition fees or scholarships.
4. Permanent residency is not a goal
Imagine I set out to "clinch" a permanent residency. Chances are I won't get it because I will make it a goal and potentially will miss out on other opportunities.
I will most likely not focus on learning new skills and finding a job.
A PR is not a goal.
Focus on getting better at your craft and adding value. You won't struggle to get the visas you want.
I know folks who made this their focus. They said it's either they got PR or nothing.
The Result?
They couldn't find work and ended up going back to school for another degree after their two years post-study visa.
Sadly, they put back all their savings into school to get a fresh visa.
The cycle begins yet again.

5. Leaving your home country, especially a low-and-middle-income country is not an achievement.
What you do with this new leap is all that matters.
Thank you, @ritapurity!
6. Information is your best friend.
The person who told me about the Global Talent visa is always willing and happy to share info with others.
You need this type of folks around you.
And remember, don't hoard what you have received from others. Share the word. Help others.
7. Don't Overwork Yourself
I needed money to look after myself but I made my off days truly mine. I focused on developing my skills for the future.
Take a day or two per week to recharge and work on your long-term goals
Don't pick every shift that comes your way.
Money may not solve all your problems especially if you seek a permanent visa.
Your money might not really help if you let your temp visa run out.
Create time to reflect and plan for the career and future you want.
8. Time is your best friend & your worst enemy
I probably wouldnt have received the Global Talent Visa if I had waited for 3-6 months
They changed the rules, which would have probably made me ineligible
If you want to do anything, go ahead now. Don't wait. Policies change fast
