I made $0 online in 2020.

Here’s a story of how Twitter changed my life:
I was always told that I must do well in school, get a degree and find a good-paying job.
There’s nothing wrong with that but I always thought I only had that one option.
Twitter helped me see things differently.

Twitter helped me see things differently.
I found myself spending more time scrolling Twitter after graduating high school in 2019.
That was when I met people like:
• 12 years old building a startup
• 18 years old starting an agency
• 22 years old making $100K online

I was impressed and jealous of their success but more importantly, it opened up the possibility that it can be done.
I told myself, I can do it too.

Since then, I filled my Twitter feed with inspiring and positive content, and people who are willing to put themselves out there.
I watched them build in public, and learn from their success stories as well as failures.

The idea of building an audience first got into me. I decided to find my niche, create content and build my online presence.
I picked @NotionHQ as my niche.
I picked @NotionHQ as my niche.
@NotionHQ I’ve been using Notion as a note-taking tool in high school but never explored all the features.
But I’ve always been curious about how to create those beautiful dashboards I saw on YouTube and Pinterest, and also how people productized their Notion pages.

@NotionHQ I watched tons of videos and joined communities related to Notion.
I worked on my first personal dashboard which helped me learn a lot more about Notion.

@NotionHQ I shared my first template in communities like Reddit and Facebook groups.
To my surprise, people loved the minimal style of my dashboard.
This made me realize that the easiest way to stand out from the rest is to be different.
So don’t be afraid to be different.

@NotionHQ I was already creating content and sharing images of my Notion pages on Twitter too.
But I didn’t have much traction besides a few friends and followers.
I then came across other creators on Twitter sharing freebies via DM.

@NotionHQ This works by asking your audience to reply to your tweet if they want to receive your freebie.
I did the same for my Notion template, and it attracted lots of Notion fans to my Twitter page.

@NotionHQ Thereafter, I learn more of the business side of things just by reading tweets and threads.
This led me to start a newsletter on @SubstackInc, use @gumroad to distribute products, and launch on @ProductHunt.

@NotionHQ @SubstackInc @gumroad @ProductHunt Over the next few months, I launched more free templates for the Notion community before launching my first premium one.
After making my first dollar online, the next dollar was easy. Digital products are low maintenance, and you can build once and sell twice.

@NotionHQ @SubstackInc @gumroad @ProductHunt But without Twitter, I would not have gotten to where I am today.
It was on Twitter that I met friends and like-minded creators that gave me guidance and feedback to scale my audience and business.

@NotionHQ @SubstackInc @gumroad @ProductHunt I got my first sale on Twitter.
I got my first client on Twitter.
I got my first job offer on Twitter.
I got my first collaboration on Twitter.
I got my first affiliate partner on Twitter.
Many opportunities were created because I started using Twitter the “right” way.
