When looking for a job in the UK 🇬🇧, the most common thing you’ll encounter is the need for a Certificate of Sponsorship or COS. What exactly is a COS?
It is not a paper document! It’s a unique reference number that holds your details and the details of the job you’ll be doing.
Only an employer who is authorised by the UK 🇬🇧 government can sponsor you to work in the country, not just anyone. They have to apply to be recognised as employers who can bring in skilled immigrants.
Once your employer gives you the COS, it will be valid for 3 months from the date of issue so you should make plans to travel ✈️ before it expires.
