'1914-1918 - 10,000,000 died, and for what?' — Soviet poster published in 1929 showing a skeleton-soldier looming over a colossal pile of corpses, with billowing cannons and a tank behind him.
The signs read:
4 million disabled
10 million killed or died from wounds
68 million total mobilised for the war
Value of national wealth of the main belligerent powers: 1.2 trillion rubles
500 billion rubles expended on the war
20,000,000 injured
The poster was designed by N. G. Kotov and issued by the Moscow State Publishing House along with a few others also condemning so-called imperialist war-mongering.
(Left: 'Fight against the imperialist wars!')
Another by Kotov published as part of a 1930 series promoting industrial efficiency: 'Worker! Do you see this stream of losses? The beast of mismanagement eats billions'.
