Yesterday a friend literally said ‘Isn’t it paradoxical that Asia would have laws that favor women?’ I was shocked. She really believes Asia is this backward place and only Europe is progressive. She’s never been to Asia. She has only been to progressive events in EU. 🧵
Most Georgians who travel don’t go to Asia; they usually get invited to conferences, events and universities in EU, usually spaces that are even ‘too’ woke. So they think Europe is super progressive. They never interact with regular society. They come back with skewed views.
They only hear about Asian sweatshops and examples of draconian policies or examples, and they straight up think Asians are backwards and are terrified of becoming ‘like them.’ While EU gets defined by the best of it - Asia gets defined by the worst of it.
