One of the most powerful skills you can learn:
Storytelling.
But schools do a terrible job teaching it.
Here’re 7 quick tips to help you tell stories everyone loves to hear:
Build a Storybank
Most people think they’re bad at telling stories, but the problem isn’t a lack of skill.
It’s a lack of material.
Start a document collecting stories. No matter how small.
You’ll notice two things:
1.More awareness
2.More insights

@JudeCharles Tie it Together
A great story isn’t about what happened. It's about the lesson you share.
Always ask:
What's the point?
Think laterally.
Even small events can present a big ideas.
@JudeCharles Open with Action
Schools teach you to write long-winded introductions.
But we live in a time of immediate gratification.
Attention is sparce.
Throw your audience into the deep end. This is one of the best examples 👇
@JudeCharles Be Specific
Stories need to set the scene. People need to picture what you're saying.
Vagueness makes it impossible.
Transport your audience with:
•Dates
•Details
•Descriptions
Specificity is the secret.
@JudeCharles Conflict and Enemy
This is one of the biggest mistakes in storytelling:
A lack of conflict.
Think about it...
When was the last time you heard a story without a problem?
Conflict creates curiosity. An enemy creates a reason to care.
@JudeCharles Remove Fluff
A story needs to be as succinct as possible without ruining the message.
•Cut out characters
•Alter time frames
•Combine events
This isn’t lying.
It’s crafting a compelling story so the message hits home.
Make every part essential.
@JudeCharles Practice
Storytelling is like going to the gym.
You don’t expect to deadlift 500lbs on day 1.
It's about repetition.
So practice whenever you can. Enjoy the process.
Even a tweet can tell a story:
