Parents, focus on these 3 things to give your child the best possible childhood:
Every parent I’ve met wants their child to have an awesome childhood.
Not a single parent has had a plan on how to make that happen.
Let’s break it down and make it as simple.👇
Love Your Wife
This probably doesn’t come to mind when you think about childhood.
But the greatest thing you can do for your children is to love your wife.
Loving your wife sets an example for them and keeps the family together.
If you love your kids but not your wife and the family fails.
It’s been shown that children growing up in two-parent homes are less likely to experience academic, social, emotional, and cognitive problems.
This means you must prioritize your marriage so that your love grows deeper and your marriage commitment is never broken.
If you neglect this your children won’t have an awesome childhood.
Teach values
Why does this give your kids an awesome childhood?
Since when has learning about *values* made anything awesome?
Think about what it's like being a kid.
Most of your childhood is spent trying to figure out the world.
You’re trying to figure out…
Food
Morals
Games
Politics
Religion
Opposite gender
And on and on it goes.
When you teach your values you offer them a road map.
Will the listen and adopt all of your values? No.
But you’ll give them a starting place, so to speak.
You pull back some of the currents and let them see.
The key here is to teach them at an age-appropriate level.
If you teach them…
Too much too soon you’ll cause anxiety.
The right amount you’ll eliminate anxiety.
When you lower or eliminate anxiety then kids are able to be kids.
When your kids can be kids they can have a great childhood.
One-on-One Time
Kids need one on one time with their parents.
Your kids act differently around their…
Friends
Parents
Siblings
Classmates
It’s important to get them on their own to see their true colors.
This is the best way to get to know your kids for who they are.
When you know them you can coach them in ways that help them best.
Many parents do more harm than good because they don’t know their kids.
One-on-one time builds trust, connections, and memories that last a lifetime.
Let the kids pick what they want to do.
Maybe it's hiking or put-put golf or a baseball game.
Whatever it is, make it enjoyable.
Make it so they look forward to the next one.
An awesome childhood can’t exist without feeling loved, heard, and cared for by your parents.
One-on-one time is like throwing gasoline on the spark of your relationship.
Nothing will make it grow faster or stronger than truly connecting.
Key Takeaways:
Please notices that *things* are not on this list.
iPads, a new car, and a cozy home are good but not vital.
Their childhood doesn’t hinge on how much money you make, it hinges on how much love you’re willing to give.
