A simple tip that will 10x your ability to focus while reading a book:
Have you ever started a book but then got up to:
-Reply to an email you forget about
-Text your friend about plans for the week
-Check social media to see how your post is doing
Or some other distraction that switched your focus from reading?
If so follow this tip:
You want to set up a Distraction Catcher.
Here's how it works:
1) Grab a post-it note or piece of paper and stick it to the first page of your book.
Example:
2) Now set a timer on your phone or watch and for the next 25-minutes, you're only allowed to read your book.
If any ideas, tasks, or distractions pop into your head, write them down on the post-it note and then quickly return to reading.
Example:
3) Once the 25-minutes are up, you're free to review your distraction catcher and act on any of the items.
Here's why this simple tip is so powerful and effective:
-It helps you quickly capture important tasks/ideas so you can stop worrying you'll forget them.
-Getting thoughts out of your brain and onto paper frees up brainpower and helps you focus 100% on the book you're reading.
The Distraction Catcher reading tip:
-Put a post-it note on the first page of your book

-Keep reading until the time is up
