Procrastination is what’s holding you back & causing your anxiety..
CONQUER YOUR PROCRASTINATION.
LET ME SHOW YOU HOW
=THREAD =
I guarantee you the number one reason you are experiencing anxiety is your PROCRASTINATION.
God didn’t design you & deploy you to planet earth to bask in anxiety.
His calling for your life is much higher than that. Here’s how we attack this issue.
1. Get Organized:
If you’re anything like me, you aren’t a very NATURALLY organized person.
ADAPT.
Make “to do” lists. Nothing crazy..
Just use the notes app on your phone.
I make separate to do lists for my work, personal life, business, etc.
1a. Knowing what needs to be done is half the battle.
Of course you’re gonna procrastinate if you don’t even know what needs to be done!
Prioritize your tasks once you have them listed.
Trust me, anxiety drops drastically as you start checking things off your lists.
2. Win the day early:
When you wake up, immediately take action on the things that need to get done the most.
This builds positive momentum & pays dividends as the day continues.
Do the same thing with your weeks.
Instead of dreading Mondays, use them as a building block.
2a. The more energy you put out, the more energy you receive.
The earlier you start in any given timeframe, the earlier you build momentum.
Don’t wait for the perfect timing.
Silence the excuses & find a way to get it done.
Win early & win often.
3. Be kind to your future self:
When you procrastinate on little, mundane tasks that HAVE to get done, you’re only kicking the can down the road.
Don’t pay a parking ticket?
YOU still HAVE to pay it, but now there’s a late fee!
This weighs on your subconscious mind.
3a. It’s one small thing.. not a huge deal.. right?
Wrong!
Small things you avoid (chores, errands, emails, bills, etc) are like open apps on a phone..
They drain battery from the whole system!
Don’t carry that weight!
Knock these things out, one at a time, as they arise.
4. Be present in the moment:
Much of the reason you procrastinate is because you aren’t living in the moment.
Mindlessly scrolling your phone..
tweet after tweet..
IG post after IG post..
Next thing you know, half the day is gone.. wasted!
Be intentional w your time!
4a. Think about WHY you’re doing whatever it is you’re doing at any given moment.
Productivity is your default setting when you’re living in the moment.
Never expect anyone else to value YOUR time if you don’t even value YOUR OWN time.
Successful men understand this.
5. Have a clear vision of your ideal life:
The ROOT CAUSE of procrastination is that you don’t know where you’re headed.
Motivation to even put one foot in front of the other gets pretty low when you don’t know your destination.
You need a CRYSTAL CLEAR vision for your life.
5a. Once you lay out exactly what you’re aiming for, each task you need to accomplish becomes a step in the right direction.
This frames your problems in a way that you stop seeing them as problems.
They become stepping stones along the path to your ideal life.
6. Consider the consequences:
On the other hand, let’s picture your life if you keep procrastinating.
You’ll continue to deal with unnecessary anxiety.
You’ll miss out on opportunities.
Your relationships will suffer.
Your finances will be lackluster.
Need I continue?
6a. In the same detail as before, picture your life if you don’t clean up your act.
Where will that put you in a year?
20 years?
Give yourself something to run FROM.
Sounds kind of harsh, but that CAN and WILL become real if you don’t get ahold of your procrastination.
7. Understand your historic opportunity:
Procrastination is largely a modern ailment.
Throughout history, people spent every waking second of every day simply trying to survive.
The reason you get bored & procrastinate is because you aren’t actively seeking food & shelter.
7a. Oh, the opportunity you have! You most likely have your basic needs taken care of!
You have the luxury to pursue higher tiers of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs.
It’s so foolish to allow procrastination to fill you with anxiety & rob you of so much opportunity!!
8. Discipline > Motivation:
Motivation is a blessing.
It’s absolutely a powerful tool, & you should use it when it comes around.
However, motivation will come & go.
Usually, you procrastinate on things that aren’t super fun but ARE super necessary.
Build IRON discipline.
8a. Physical fitness is a great way to build discipline.
You won’t always feel like putting in the work, but you teach yourself that your FEELINGS DON’T MATTER.
When you feel like procrastinating, discipline takes the wheel & gets the job done..
EVERY.
SINGLE.
TIME.
In conclusion:
God held up HIS end of the bargain when he gave you a beating heart & a skull full of vision.
He put you here for a reason, & it wasn’t to bask in anxiety.
Hold up YOUR end of the bargain & conquer your procrastination.
Live up to your higher calling!
