The label “Surūriyyah” was first used by Madkhalīs and later hijacked by supporters of a certain group to describe their opponents and make them seem like a heretical sect outside the fold of Islām.
This term should’ve be used, because they are not a sect astray from… (1)
Ahlus-Sunnah, and it’s not permissible to create unnecessary divisions within the Ummah.
The “Surūriyyah” affirm the Atharī Creed, and adhere to the views of Ahlus-Sunnah regarding Īmān, Kufr and Qitāl.
They opposed Salafī-Jihādīs in waging war against the Salūlī State… (2)
either because they made Ijtihād and concluded that the State, despite its flaws, had not apostated, or that the Muslims didn’t have the ability to remove it.
Their disagreement with these Salafīs in this matter came from Ijtihād, and legitimate Ijtihād is always rewarded… (3)
instead of punished by placing one outside the fold of Islām.
They didn’t act as agents for the State, but rather tried to make peace between the State and the Base, and advocated for Islāmising the State through Da`wah instead.
The books of figures like Sh. Muhammad Surūr, (4)
Sh. Safar al-Hawālī, Sh. `Abdil-`Azīz at-Tarīfī and others associated with the “Surūriyyah” are completely in line with the Manhaj of Ahlus-Sunnah and Salafiyyah, with the exception of a deviant few like Sh. Salmān al-Awdah, may Allāh guide and release him. (5)
So we should stop placing labels on people to divide the Ummah, especially when they don’t differ from Ahlus-Sunnah in any of their Usūl like the “Surūriyyah.”
We should instead promote love and unity between Muslims, especially when they share the same struggle as us. (6)
Correction for the first Tweet: “shouldn’t be used*…”
