Chinese nuclear project update -
A project that's kept a VERY low profile since its FCD last year: the 125MW CNNC-led Small Modular Reactor (SMR) down in Hainan.
Announcement came yesterday that the first "pre-installation" equipment was put into place.

I grabbed the header pic from this Hainan news page which also has a nice vid of the SMR's containment shell lift, completed a few days ago.
Should be some interesting stuff if you were having trouble envisioning what modularized construction looks like.

The reactor design is the Linglong One η²ιΎδΈε·, a reference to the Hualong One.
The name is probably(?) a nod to the idiom ε°ε·§η²η which means small and dainty, or delicate.
So if Hualong One is the "Chinese Dragon" then the Linglong One is the "Delicate Dragon"...cute.

Unlike the conventional reactor program, I can't claim much insight into the development of CN's SMR projects, except that all the majors have one.
The Chinese online commentariat seems sure this project is related to nuclear-powered aircraft carrier development tho.

Addendum: Seems this project hasn't been THAT low-key; I just haven't been paying close enough attention. π
