Look at Image Below, the Letter A corresponds to ARIES and the Following 26 Letters of the Alphabet Fit Nearly Around the Zodiac Wheel. When the Sun is at it's Highest Point during the Summer Solstice, the Letter G is the HIGHEST Letter in the Zodiac Alphabet, Lucifer Rising.
At the Sun's Lowest Point, when the Sun appears to 'Die' on the Astrological Cross during the Winter Solstice corresponds to the Letter T on the Zodiac Alphabet. The Letter T obviously Looks like a Cross. The Cross is the One the Earliest Phallic Symbols.
What does this have to do with Crimo & the Number 47?
The G in the Centre of the Square & Compass is the HIGHEST Letter in the Zodiac Alphabet during the Summer Solstice. The Shooting Occured on 7/4 (74🪞47), 13 Days After the Summer Solstice. M is the 13th Letter. M for Mason.

In the 1st Image Below, it should now make sense why the G is placed over the Chair of the Worshipful Master representing the Sun at its Highest Point. The G is symbolic of many things: yOUR INNER G, Gnosis, Geometry but, most importantly, the G Spot or the Generative Principle.
The Set Square is set at 90°, this Angle is Inharmonious in Astrological Terms. Known also as a Square, it is one of the Worst Aspects. The Compass is Set at 47°, this Angle is much more Harmonious, overshadowing the 90° Set Square Below.
The Top of the Compass represents the Summer Solstice. While the the Two Ends of the Square represent the Spring & Fall Equinox. The Bottom of the Middle of the Square representing the Winter Solstice. The Two Points of the Compass land on the Pagan Holidays Imbolc & Samhain.
Is this why Crimo was fascinated with 47? Maybe, Maybe Not.
But those in High Places realize the Esoteric Symbolism of the Number 47 & it's connection to the Square & Compass.
