Important is to understand what SIMI founders were up to after it was banned by the Government of India. Its founders & members ventured into different organizations set up. Several organizations led by SIMI members merged to form PFI in 2006.

Another SIMI founder Ahmadullah Siddiqi is the accomplice of Pakistani Abdul Malik Mujahid, former President of student wing of Jamaat. Both Siddiqi & Mujahid were associated with Jamaat front- ICNA (1990s). Siddiqi is part of Mujahid’s org that targets India.

Mujahid’s Justice For All has been targeting India via lobbying the USCIRF (2018-20). JFA’s Burma Task Force paid $267K (b/w 2018-20) to lobby the USCIRF and get India designated as CPC in their annual reports.

India has been in the middle of communal insurgencies in recent times. People behind these insurgencies were once a part of SIMI. On the face, SIMI is a disbanded front, however, its members continue to operate in fragments & via new fronts like PFI & its subsidiaries.

SIMI may have been banned by the Government but the people who formed it are still thriving in our country and abroad and have made organizations that are working in synchronization.
