Yesterday read the heart wrenching story of this boy named Arvey. He was in #DelhiPublicSchool. He started to get bullied when he was in his 6th standard because of his gender non-confirming behaviour. The boys used to call him “chakka” (slang for a trans person). (1/n)
His mother was a teacher in the same school. When complained to the authority they just shrug off calling the boy as drama queen. When in 9th standard, he told his mom that the boys in his class blindfolded and forced stripped him in the class. (2/n)
He loved poetry, art, and to sing. However, he was severely bullied and humiliated for being “too feminine”. The boy went into depression. With therapy he started to improve but as soon as the school opened, he again slipped into depression (3/n)
Finally he killed hinself jumping from 15th floor of his building. Sorry, I made a mistake here. He didn’t kill himself, he was MURDERED. His classmates, school teachers, us who make fun of gender non-conforming people took him to the brink and pushed him from there. (4/n)
It’s us, the society who killed the young boy. We killed Turing, we killed Siras, we killed Arvey. Everyday we kill 100s of Arveys bit by bit. We shatter thr self-confidence, we force them to live a horrible life taking away all hopes from them. We end many promising lives. (5/n)
Bullying mst stop at all levels; schools, universities, labs, workplaces, homes. Yes, bullying hapns within the family too. If u see any bully, stop him/her their. Stand 4 the people who get bullied. Bullied r generally weak. If we resist them, we can stop them. (6/n)
Let’s not push any more Arveys to take the extreme steps. Let’s fight against bullies and give the Arveys the life that they deserve. Here is the link of the main post: facebook.com
