I have an intuition that Mahayana Buddhism's cosmology is correct precisely because of how the Vedas describe how this world was created and also how hauntings work.
Somehow, depending on the grade of the deceased, a new world or "afterlife" (all lives are actually just afterlives) is created through an oath, which are Buddha Pure Lands. Souls transmigrate to these worlds depending on the nature of their initiation.
So what about this world? According to the Vedas, this world was created from the Ritual Dismemberment of Purusha. Someone dies so that a world can be created. Thus, us inhabitants, are souls that haunt this world. Life is the dream of Inanimate, its a spectral disturbance.
In paranormal research, hauntings of coincide with energetic disturbances of electronics, psychokinesis, time and gravity, and can be associated "things" outside of our reality such as cryptids and UFO's.
Throughout civilization, ritual human sacrifices are made either 'traumatize the medium' or 'revitalize the forces of nature" but what if they're actually the same thing?
In Psychology, Drives are forces that are neither fully biological or cultural, but occupy a 3rd space, the Psyche. A Death Drive is essentially a drive that seeks Jouissance through failure to obtain a symbol of its desire, thus perpetuating that drive into a cycle.
We can extrapolate this image of a cyclical drive as what Buddhists call Samsara, or the constant recycling of Souls through death and reincarnation. This is how Freud's Eros is subservient to his Thanatos, the Pleasure Principle derives its energy from Death itself.
This is also perhaps why Lacanian thinkers like Zizek say that seeking Moksha or Nirvana is actually the logical end of the Pleasure Principle, because Pleasure is a neutralization of excitation in the body; it is relaxation and comfort.
The Death Drive is excessive excitation to the point of being socially dangerous, compulsively self-destructive and leads to one sabotaging the stability of their own life. Because it cycles, it never reaches its 'conclusion'. It persists indefinitely, beyond real physical death.
It is because of Desire that humans reincarnate over and over again. An example of desire; symbols of the desire may change (car, house, money ect) but the actual goal of the desire doesn't (hot wife).
And when when one experiences Jouissance (enjoyment) from failure to achieve these desires, then it begins to cycle into a repetitive compulsion. One begins to perversely enjoy failing over and over again, despite it being traumatically painful.
Girard answers why people desire things in the first place, and its because of memetic rivalry which actually comes from our own empathy. Fundamentally, we seek to imitate one another because we believe we perceive God in others, thus we seek to become God, because of Narcissism.
However, humans (or most humans) cannot become Immortal Gods. Humans are Humans. And when humans fail to achieve immortality, the Jouissance causes them to spiral demonically. This is what is known in Thelema as a Black Brother.
This is why there is such a strong overlap between Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Spirituality. There isn't good information or any information at all on how to achieve Immortality. Most people don't even know how to be a proper human or define what a human is.
The Latin word Humanitas is derived from one of the Zoroastrian Amesha Spentas, Vohu Mainyu, as in voHU MAiNyu. It means "the Best Thinking". Which correlates to the latin Homo Sapien, or "Wise Ape". Here, I'm making a connection of Wisdom to Sophia, as in Philosophy.
A prime foundation of Philosophy is self-introspection, as the adage goes "the unexamined life is a life not worth living. Nowadays this gets passed around as "shadow work" or therapy. At this phase of civilization, you're guaranteed mental illness without introspective praxis.
The Race and Economic dialectic, while real-world problems, are means of death-drive self-sabotage or an excuse to engage in memetic rivalry, thus perpetuating the cycle of Real Suffering within the psychic individual. Revolutions MUST fail BECAUSE of Jouissance.
We experience shradenfreude when we see despised movement shut down, and we are driven insane when it happens to movements we are invested in. But this should show an indication of what kind of game people in the streets are playing at here.
This state of affairs, at this rate, will continue as such for those who like to play 'tribe'. It is perverse orgy of competing tribes sucking each other off for jouissance and shradenfreude every Thanksgiving in the 21st century.
Thus the idea of Buddhism becomes a true (or rather truer) method of reprogramming the medium through the practice of Shunyata, which implies a non-state beyond existence, and existence where condition of the inner psyche and outer world are codependents and in constant turmoil.
In Buddhism one enjoys neutralizing the aim of desires through procedural disavowals of their symbols. This enjoyment is the natural result of resolving swirling inner Disturbances or vrittis that arise through karmas.
