INNOVATION IS NOT AN IDEA PROBLEM
While trying to innovate, we usually try to come up with new ideas, rather than notice the great ideas that already exist.
β€”β€”THREADβ€”β€”
But Innovation is not an idea problem; it's a recognition problem.
Let's look at 3 case studies to demonstrate this:
1. KODAK VS SONY
Kodak's research lab had actually invented the first digital camera back in 1975. But they didn't pay attention to it until....
Sony developed a different prototype and introduced it to the public in 1981. Kodak lost its moment.
2. XEROX VS APPLE
Xerox developed the first personal computer, but didn't do much with the technology. After failing the market in 1981, they withdrew.
On the other hand, Steve Jobs exploited the opportunity with Apple and changed the game.
3. CELTEL VS WORLD
Celtel's Mo Ibrahim was called crazy when he wanted to expand telecommunication networks in Africa. It had no infrastructure, dictators, and extreme poverty. Phones were a toy for the rich in '90s.
But Mo saw opportunity. In 6 years made 3 billion from 13 countries. Bharti Airtel bought it in 2010 for $10 billion.
"THE NEXT BIG THING IS ALREADY DISCOVERED"
Do you believe this? Comment what you think the next big innovation is going to be.
