1) Prioritize each other!
I see far too many couples lose themselves & pour everything into the kids.
At the altar you both pictured a lifetime of love, lust, romance & passion.
That shouldn’t stop just because of kids.
Men,
Plan date nights!
Make it nonnegotiable.

You should create adventure, passion, laughter & a shared mission between you two that your kids can see!
Keep pursuing her.
Keep dating her.
Your wife will often mirror back & amplify the energy you put into the relationship.
So put each other first always!

2) Make kids adapt to your life.
This one drives me nuts to see :)
Parents asking their 5 year old what do you want to do?!
Stop saying that & lead!
A better strategy to make your kids still feel involved is to say,
Would like to go hike, to the park or swim this afternoon?
This one drives me nuts to see :)

Now they still have choice, but parents win either way.
My wife & I love the outdoors.
We are extremely active.
We don’t ask our kids if they want to be active too?
We make it normal to be outside from the time they can crawl.
My boys aren’t yet 2 & spend HOURS a day outside!

3) They mirror your energy & are always watching.
Dads especially, you set the tone!
I used to come home from work & grumble about my boss, staff, the clients etc. & plop on the couch.
Guess what,
My wife told me how hard her day was & the house was low energy.

My mission is to bring life, energy & enthusiasm into our home daily!
I simply don’t complain now.
I find the good & focus on it.
We do dance parties, races, squirt gun battles, build forts, tickle fights & its 1,000x more fun!

4) Hold a family meeting each week!

My wife & I now keep a giant white board together.
We meal prep all our lunches on Sunday & spend 10–15 minutes talking about & planning the upcoming week.
It’s solves a lot of problems before they happen!

5) Be present above all else.
In an age of being distracted,
the best gift we can give others is our full attention.

We get 18 summers with them.
Ask anyone with grown kids it goes fast.
There are no redos.
If you died tomorrow your company would replace you, but your family would NEVER get over it.
So prioritize what truly matters.
Give kids your PRESENCE over just giving them presents.

6) Fill yourself up first every day.
This is a massive mistake I made for a while & see others doing too.
Your kids shouldn’t be your alarm clock.
You shouldn’t wake up & instantly grab your phone.
Take time everyday to fill yourself up first!
Start the day with INTENT!

Once the day starts, let’s be honest, everyone is taking from us.
Kids pull us a hundred directions.
Bosses, work & deadlines drain us.
Chores, bills, & responsibilities pile up.
If you aren’t already starting everyday filled up you’ll have nothing left to give your family.

7) Make ordinary moments magical.
Getting the mail is a mundane task.
Except it doesn’t have to be!
Each night we:
-Race
-Take sidewalk chalk
-Dress up goofy & laugh
-Play a game like pass the story
And make it an awesome time with our kids!

Too often today I hear the worlds going to hell in a hand basket.
There’s so many problems in our society.
Then I say let’s all do something about it!
Every stat shows if you want your kids to be PRIVILEGED then create an on fire home full of love, laughter & encouragement!

Our kids don’t need all the money & stuff in the world, they need
US PRESENT each day with them!
