The counterpoint is that if “science,” meaning the institutions and systems in place to fund and execute scientific thinking for public goals, are incapable of fulfilling that purpose and instead do ruinous damage to those on whose behalf they exist, they should be discredited.

“True enlightened science” is indeed a laudable goal but it has no home here anymore, and those who once claimed to give it shelter have stolen its clothes to hide their crimes. Should we then suffer these misdeeds on behalf of another who they have wronged? I think not.

Every institution responsible for any form of health science funding should be thoroughly audited and subjected to extensive administrative personnel turnover at the absolute minimum, and more preferably should show cause why they should not be abolished or defunded.

We are past the time for unearned trust and idle tinkering at the margins. Many speak of a time to build; to build you first must level the ground and clear out the broken debris of what was.
