Thread on Ratnadhwajpal, the most powerful Sutiya King.
Ratnadhwajpal / Gaurinarayan, the son of Birpal, accomplished the task started by his father to unite all the Sutiya hill tribes under one banner. First he United the Sutiya tribes of kalgiri, Nilgiri, dhavalgiri (1/7)
Chandandiri, then he annexed the kingdom of Bhadrasen, who was his father's uncle, then he built his capital near Majuli, naming it Ratanpur and assumed the name Ratnadhwajpal.He then attacked the kingdom of Nayayapal, who submitted by giving his daughter for marriage to him 2/7
During this time, Raja Sandhya of Kamata won a major victory against Yuzbak of Lakhnauti, the Turks were all annihilated. Raja Ratnadhwajpal sent an emissary for asking the hand of Sandhyas daughter for his son Vijaydhwajpal, but he refused.
He invaded Kamata kingdom (3/7)
Constructing forts and roads on the way, which terrified King Sandhya, he gave his daughter in marriage to the prince. Ratnadhwajpal became lord of Kamata kingdom and made it a vassal state.
The road constructed from Sadiya till Kamata was later used by Koch general Chila Rai 4/7

He also had very friendly relations with Raja Keshav sena of Gauda, where he entrusted his son for higher studies, both of them exchanged waters from Parashuram Kund and Ganga for religious purposes. (5/7)
Ratnadhwajpal was a pioneer in state building, he built many cities like Gohpur, Dhalpur, Chiding, Doding, telahi, sadarshi etc, built many temples & large tanks. Ratanpur became a culture center and king to keen interest in music. During this time Vaishnavite culture took (6/7)

Sutiya state continued for nxt two centuries before being conquered by Ahoms, where they continued to hold important positions. (7/7)
