Fastest Way to Get Product IDs for Your Amazon Products
(required for new sellers to list their own products)
Steps๐Ÿ‘‡
When creating a product on Amazon:
You'll be prompted for an "External Product ID"
Best Way = Use UPC Codes
UPC Codes: 12 digit barcode
The first 6-10 digits are a GS1 Company prefix.
UPC codes have a lot of use on the eCom market, but are essentially just a barrier to entry to sell on Amazon.
As Amazon assigns a unique Amazon Barcode to your products.
3 Places to Get UPCs
1. GS1: Official barcode registry
2. Nationwide barcode: resale site
3. eBay: you know what eBay is
1. GS1
2. Nationwide Barcode
I use & ALWAYS recommend them.
I've never seen any issue and you save hundreds.
3. eBay
Can find deals at times, but much higher risk.
Two Important Distinctions:
1. This is for Private Label: if you are reselling, you don't need
2. Once you are Brand Registered (trademark required), you don't can apply for a GTIN exemption and no longer need codes.
Boom! Now you're ready to list & sell on Amazon.
