Varna are four and based on birth and Karma.
Means people born in a varna n later used to have choice to change their varna on the basis of their actions.
Jaatis are 1000+ and based only on birth. U cant change ur Jaati in entire life

In Varna system is based on cohesiveness. No one is superior n no one is inferior. Every varna have their unique characteristics

Vaishya : Business owner, seller
Shudra : service class, salaried people

Hindus followed Varna system thousands of years and there is not a single example of inter varna clash

In British time India did not have any option and forced to do whatever British said but
On 15th August 1947, India had choice
- either to choose varna system made by Hindu sage
- or to choose jaati system made by British

It was the bad luck of India that Nehru who himself was half British got power to make this decision
He rejected varna system of Hindu sage and accepted jaati system made by British.
