"Data Point" is a regular feature in @the_hindu. They published an interesting survey result today.
As usual, they wanted to show a doomsday situation, showing 6 graphs. Turns out the survey shows a great picture of our economy over the past year or so. Let's see. 1/n
Graph #1: 70% of Urban and 55% of rural folks were able to "save substantially for their future needs", last year.
Awesome numbers these are - 70% of Urban and 55% of rural! Would these numbers have been possible if the handling of the economy was bad? (2/n)
Graph#2: A whopping 94% Urban and 88% Rural people have said that that their "current financial situation these days is better or about the same" compared to last year.
94% Urban and 88% Rural! Would these numbers have been possible if the handling of the economy was bad? (3/n)
Graph#3: A whopping 90% Urban and 85% Rural folks are confident that they "will be able to systematically save, more or about the same as last year".
90% Urban and 85% Rural! Would these numbers have been possible if the handling of the economy was bad? (4/n)
Graph#5: The "ability to meet regular monthly expenses as compared to an year ago" has either improved and remained about the same for a whopping 84% Urban and 81% Rural folks!
Would these numbers have been possible if the handling of the economy was bad? (5/n)
Graph#6: A whopping 96% Urban and 94% Rural folks are very confident that their situation will either be better or remain about the same one year from now.
Would this confidence stem if the handling of the economy was bad? (6/n)
Now, let's go back to the 1st tweet on this thread and see the despondent headline that @MaliniP and @nambath gave - "Consumer sentiment weaker in Rural areas".
Really? Did they read the same graphs that they themselves published? (7/7)
