Recently Some People on Social Media Stated that Worshipping Shivling is Worship of sexual body parts.
So as Usual Let's Analyise How Much Legitimate is their Statements logically & Bases on Scriptural Proofs.

First lets Understand why these People say Shivling represents sexual organs?
According to their Concept Ling represent Phallus
& Pitha (Base On Which Ling Seats) is Yoni
Because of this Misconception some People make Statement that Shivling represents sexual organs

● 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 :
1. First about the shape of Shivling : -
Now, Why the upper round part of shivling is pointing upwards, why not down, if one interprets it in a sexual way?
Because it is not representing phallus. It is a symbol of shiva.

In Sanskrit Ling means Symbol or Sign not Phallus
The Sanskrit word for phallus is Shishinam, not Ling
In Word Streeling
If ling means phallus, then what does streeling mean female penis? No, right ? Streeling is a symbol of a female.
So Ling = Sign/ Symbol

Jyotirling Word is The Sanskrit compound of jyotis and ling
According to them Ling means Phallus ans Jyotis means Radiance so According to them Meaning of Word Jyotirlinga means Radiance Phallus ? No, right ?
Jyotirlinga means Radiant signs of Lord Shiva

Hence, SHIVLING means the Symbol of Lord Shiva.
Shivling is finite representation of [ infinite pure consciousness and infinite energy ] combined i.e. Sadashiva or simply say Shiva.
Inorder to clear Doubts About Pitha Let's See some Different Types & Shapes of Shivling

Some People call Pitha (Base On Which Ling Seats) is Yoni (Female Sexual Organ) Let's Clear this Doubts also.
The above pic is of AMARNATH Shivlingam ( naturally formed ), now can any one tell me where is that “yoni part”, whom some People call a “female sexual organ”?

Take Example of Kedarnath Jyotirlinga
See Ling is In triangular Shape ( which phallus is triangular?? )
See the Pitha base part, it is square. ( which female sexual part is square in shape? )

Here are some “naturally formed Shivlings” found on the Narmada river bed, see yourself again without a female organ part ie Pitha [ Base or Pedestal]
Does it look like a phallus? No, it is in elliptical shape …

This is Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga , observe the Pitha [Base [ around it.
Again it is square shaped. (and yoni is not square)

This means that the structure that is around shivling is NOT Yoni but just a pedestal/Base to uphold the shivling & for water drainage in one side .
And Shiv purana also calls it a ‘peeth’ (pedestal) and not Yoni ( Female Sexual Organ)

● 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝘀 :
As per Linga MahaPuran :—
Linga represents an “infinite column of pure consciousness”. Hence, Symbol of Shiv.
Pitha represents “infinite pure energy”. Hence, Symbol of Mother Sakti.
Shiv + Sakti = SadaShiva

According to Linga Purana, 3rd Chapter
The formless Supreme being(Brahma or Brahman) is Lingam. Mahadev is that Supreme being formless and Nirguna, form him all the Indescribable things appeared. The greatest lingam holds two parts....See Attached Pic

As Sakti and Shiva are inseparable and one. That's why ling(Shiva ) is always attached with pitha( Parvati /Durga)

According to 129th suktam (Nasadiya Suktam) of the 10th Mandal of Rigveda,
"In the beginning of the creation there was nothing. Ishwara was there only as the soul (Atma or Atman), without any symbol. There arose desire in His mind and from that everything was created."

As per Atharva veda skambha sūkta 10.7
All gods were sprang from Skambha (pillar or linga).
In a nutshell, Shiva Linga denotes the endless form of Mahadeva, accomodating all the beings, all the gods, and everything which exists.

1. The base or Bhumi bhag

Once sages have debate regarding why Linga form is worshipped.
Goddess Saraswati vist the sages and states
सर्वं लिंगमयं लोकं सर्वं लिंगे प्रतिष्ठितम् ।
तस्मात्सर्वं परित्यज्य स्थापयेत्पूजयेच्च तत् ।।

According To Mahabharata Drona Parva (Drona-vadha Parva) Chapter 201:12
Mahabharata states one who worships Mahadeva in the form of a linga, obtains eternal knowledge about his own self & about the sacred texts.
Keshava is devoted to Rudra & has been generated from Rudra
