Criticism is your best friend.
Find out how it can:
- open your mind
- motivate you
- teach you
= thread -
No one wants to be criticized.
We usually associate it with:
- haters
- jerks
- know-it-alls
But, what if it made you better?
Consider these sources.
Source 1: Family
I was complaining about working a 9-5
and a part-time job a few years ago.
My dad said, "you're not going to make it."
That's all I needed.
His words were a challenge.
I made it through the entire renovation,
working both jobs.
Source 2: Coaches & Mentors
I was a decent athlete.
My coaches were hard on me.
One day my coach said,
"if I'm quiet, you should be worried."
If he stopped criticizing, that meant
he no longer cared or saw potential.
I learned to love criticism from him.
Source 3: Leadership
I applied for a job last summer.
The CFO of my large company tore
my resume to shreds.
At first I was frustrated.
But then I realized she is where she is,
because she is good at what she does.
I took all of her advice, completely
transforming my resume.
Source 4: Haters
Some people get joy out of bringing others down.
These people aren't in your arena.
Their opinions don't count.
The bigger you get, the more criticism you get.
Criticism is a sign you're reaching more people.
Criticism isn't always bad.
Sometimes it's what you need.
Start seeing criticism positively,
and your world will change.
