The easiest way to get better cold email results?
Get really specific with your targeting, and frame your messaging around your targetin.
Here are 5 targeting tricks you can use to get better results with cold email.

1. Choose a specific location
If you’re able to work with companies in any geographical area, say roofers in the United States for example, it pays to get location-specific with your targeting.
Instead of building a list of roofers all across the country, filter your list within a specific city.
Once you have a list like this, you can leverage this in your messaging.
"Noticed you’re one of the top roofers in Atlanta based on your reviews - keep up the great work!"
2. Choose a niche within a niche
Just like with the previous example, it pays to get specific.
If you’re in the eCommerce space and you can work with any brand, pick a specific sub-niche within eCommerce and build a list of contacts in that niche.
Let’s pick women’s necklace brands for example:
"As a CMO of a womens necklace brand, Im sure you’re always looking for ways to acquire more female millennials as customers.
We help womens necklace brands acquire customers more profitably by promoting their products on TikTok."
3. Pick a technology they’re using
If you work with a specific technology, say Klaviyo for example, use this to your advantage with your targeting.
First, build a list of eCommerce brands using Klaviyo for their email marketing.
With that list of brands using Klaviyo, run a campaign based on this.

We can increase your Klaviyo revenue by X% with segmented flows that reach your customers when they’re ready to make a repeat purchase.
4. Use hiring data
If a prospect is hiring for a certain role at their company, they need your services.
Noticed COMPANY is hiring for an SDR - lead gen must be a priority for you right now.
We can help you generate X leads a month on a Pay-Per-Call basis, interested?
Use funding data
If a company has recently raised funds, they 1) likely have the budget for your services, and 2) want to be congratulated on it!
Build a list of companies that have recently raised either a seed round or Series A, and leverage this in your messaging.
Congrats on COMPANY’s recent Series A, super impressed with how fast you’ve grown!
Instant ego boost, and a great way to get the rest of your email read and responded to.
