In any given week, I'm super busy.
Between internal + external meetings, events, or even public speaking—
I choose to put a lot on my plate.
This is how I plan my week to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

1. I look backward.
"Did I do everything that needed to get done last week?"
If not, I add the loose ends to the upcoming week.

2. I look forward.
I typically have quarterly goals.
So, every week I consider this:
"What do I need to start this week to ensure I'm on track for my goals?"
This helps me stay ahead, and prevents me from pushing tasks off until the last month/week.

3. I filter the schedule.
Based on the top 3-5 things I've committed to that quarter—
I prioritize my schedule to get those done.
Anything that's not in the top priority, I put in the 'backlog.'

4. I move items up.
If I finish all 5 top priorities for the week...
I allow myself to start tackling the backlog tasks.
That way I always have something productive to do.
Even when I'm already "ahead".

There's no magic pill to scheduling your week.
But, most people don't make the time to do it.
It's really simple if you do it—
And only takes 30 minutes/wk.

That being said, this is what works for me.
