Rushdie was attacked because of an Iranian govt fatwa for The Satanic Verses, considered blasphemous for insulting the Prophet Mohammed. One book led to slaughter of at least 40 ppl. But much of the western press still doesn’t know why the assault happened. A real head scratcher.
