"जोधा गुलामी में पैदा जरूर हुआ है, लेकिन मरेगा आज़ादी के बाद ही"
Th. Jodha Singh Gautam (Ataiyya) of Fatehpur was one of the few nationalist revolutionaries who inflicted a very severe blow to Britishers through his Guerrilla Warfare.
At a young age of 20, he took up arms and
formed a group of selective revolutionaries to wipe out Britishers from his district.
On 9 December 1857, Jodha Singh surrounded Jehanabad tehsil, along with his 51 companions. Two dozen British policemen were killed during this encounter.
Th. Jodha Singh Gautam took the Tehsildar hostage during this encounter and got the British to waive the Lagaan of the farmers of the entire tehsil as a ransom.
As a result, Jodha Singh & 51 of his companions were caught & hanged from the Bada Imli ka ped at Fatehpur.
Sad, that no farmer leader or "nationalist politician" remembers him today.
@MrTHAR @rewantpatoda @yashvardhansngh please do tell his story and his sacrifice for Kisans at your Kisan Sabhas.
