“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom”
This line is etched into our memories and gives us goosebumps every time we hear it
Let’s unravel this special thread and look at some moments that shaped Independent India🇮🇳:
It’s been 75 years! Yes, 75 years of breathing in a free country!
In 1947, Winston Churchill said, “If Independence is granted to India, power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw.”
We proved them wrong, didn’t we?
Honestly, it’s not about proving anyone wrong, it’s about pulling yourself together when no one believes in you!
We are standing tall in the world order and our contributions are recognised globally.
Truly a great time to be an Indian.
Although most of us don’t even realise the horrors of living in a nation that’s controlled by a foreign entity, and how degraded the citizens must feel when they are treated as meat!
The odds were against us. Many countries tried to exploit, destroy and manipulate us.
We were the least respected and now the world counts on us.
It’s been truly a magnificent journey.
Now, let’s shed some light on the moments that define this journey:
The rise of AMUL:
Amul doodh peeta hai India! What more could be said about this initiative.
The creation of this corporation in 1946 changed the dairy landscape of India and triggered what is known as the White Revolution!
Setting up of IITs across the country:
In July 1951, India set up the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur.
Since then IITs, along with other engineering schools, have given us some remarkable engineers who are making their mark in technology.
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre:
India's premier research and development facility in nuclear sciences and engineering, gave the country a strategic edge by developing the nuclear bomb.
JRD Tata and Homi J Bhabha were the architect of this vision and they knew it from the beginning that only “Power respects Power”.
War of 1971:
If you are someone who’s interested in learning about geopolitics and how military strategies are formed, then this is the first case study you should pick up.
Yet again the world was against us, there was a time when we were preparing our boys to wage war against American warships.
Sam Manekshaw was really a man of steel!
India Wins the 1983 World Cup:
We are a very diverse country and to make all of us root for one cause is hell of a task, but cricket made this possible.
Now you may ask, how did this help India?
It started with Kapil Dev lifting that trophy and now the amount of business cricket is generating is out of the park.
The Launch of Maruti 800 in 1983:
Maruti was not just a car for India, it laid the foundation of the automobile industry of the country. The nation which was highly dependent on imports was now manufacturing their own cars.
Now that’s remarkable!
India Opens Up:
On July 24, 1991, finance minister Manmohan Singh presented a Budget which would change the face of the Indian economy forever.
Govt ended the licence raj and indicated to the world that we are open to business.
Come here set up your shops without any hassle — this decision changed the course of history.
India Adopts Nuclear:
On May 13, 1998 at 15:45 hours, India secretly conducted a series of underground nuclear tests with five bombs in Pokhran, Rajasthan.
Numerous sanctions were placed on India by countries such as the United States and Japan.
The way we fooled the CIA and conducted this operation is a story to tell your grandchildren.
Jio, Startups and Era of UPI:
How can one tell the story of India without mentioning Jio.
The flagbearer of the digital revolution and the catalyst of payment revolution.
Who would have thought that one day a person sitting in the most remote place of the country can launch a business and receive payments too.
We have come a long way, but still have a long way to go
We are not perfect, we all have our own set of problems to deal with
Today is all about celebrating the milestones we have touched and tomorrow will be to lay the new ones
Once again, Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind🇮🇳
